Inspiration
Color... More than any other element, color has a direct and immediate effect on us, on the emotional, intellectual, and psychological level. I'm drawn to the interplay of color, form and light found in nature. My work is an attempt to manipulate these three elements to create exaggerations and impressions of natural forms I have directly observed.
Artists that inspire me include Hans Hoffmann, Georgia O'Keeffe, Edward Hopper, VanGogh, and the still life painters from the 15th century.
Techniques
As a painter, I work with oils on canvas and panels using brushes and palette knife. When traveling, I especially enjoy painting en plein air, on-site in the environment! This way of working is exhilarating!
I also make lino-prints, and enjoy this printmaking process, particularly challenging the more colors I create within a print!
